Dr. Worthy is a former college athlete and earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree at Winston-Salem State University. Following the completion of her degrees, she worked briefly as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), but still felt that she could improve lives in a better way. Her curiosity about human behavior, intersectional identities, and desire to de-stigmatize and improve mental health led her to pursue a Doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology at Seton Hall University.
Her approach to therapy has often been termed “conversational” by clients, who often felt that therapy did not feel like therapy. While she is seen as an expert, she is also human and conveys that in her work. In your work with Dr. Worthy, you will identify experiences that have shaped the way you think, behave, feel, and interact with others. Dr. Worthy will use those experiences and learned behaviors as a guide to help you cultivate healthier relationships and strengthen self-love.
Dr. Worthy is experienced in using the following treatment modalities: Relational Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
