Alyssa Lam

Intern / Columbia University

A graduate student at Teachers College, Columbia University, Alyssa is working toward becoming a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor.

About Alyssa

Growing up in a home where three languages were spoken, she experienced firsthand how beautiful — and complex — a multicultural life can be. She also witnessed how often mental health is treated as a cultural silence, where emotions are suppressed to save face.

As a counselor-in-training, her mission is to break that silence. She especially enjoys working with young adults navigating family expectations, cultural identity, and the pressure to conform in the face of struggle.

Her approach is rooted in patience, empathy, and humility. She believes what matters most isn’t always finding the “right” thing to say, but being truly present. In sessions, clients can expect to be seen not just through a diagnosis, but through their unique story. Together, they will balance empathy with actionable growth so that they feel heard without judgment.

When she’s not at WorthyTherapy or in class, Alyssa is usually searching for the best restaurants in the city or enjoying a sunny afternoon. She looks forward to walking alongside each client as they discover the incredible resilience they already possess.
